Structure size is not vine footage. An 8 × 8 ft rectangular arch has a 24 ft structural path, but the published Standard design uses one L box because wrapping, layering and trailing ends require additional vine.
Measured mode: enter the real dimensions. Light & airy starts with one visible vine pass, Standard with two and Full & lush with three. The customer can see and edit the pass count, add tails and choose an optional planning allowance. No reserve is added automatically.
All projects are added together before box quantities are rounded. Prices come from available product variants, including wholesale packs when they are genuinely less expensive.
This is the exact sizing guide we give our own customers: coverage, weight and price for each real box.
Use a project reference only when the dimensions and photographed finish match. Box ranges are approximate because Smilax is wild-cut.
Use references only when the design matches. The published Standard recommendation is fixed to the dimensions and visual treatment described. A different structure or finish belongs in measured mode.
For a simple bar edge, enter the real measurements. The only documented bar preset is the photographed 12 × 10 × 2 ft backdrop and overhead treatment using two L boxes. It must not be confused with a short runner.
Count every physical vine route. In measured mode, Light & airy starts at one pass, Standard at two and Full & lush at three; adjust the visible pass count to match the actual plan.
Count every zone once. An arch allowance does not include the aisle, tables or chandelier. Hanging installations need venue-approved rigging and a qualified installer.
Published starting point: one L box for an approximately 8 × 8 ft arch. A partial / asymmetrical design has a one-M-box reference. Larger, deeper or fuller designs need a separate layout.
The product FAQ gives one XL box as the reference for this 40 ft total decorated path. Other lengths or densities need a separate plan.

The DIY guide shows one M box for a small hanging installation about 3 ft in diameter × 2 ft deep. Do not apply that quantity to every chandelier or ceiling.
The photographed guide reference uses one L box for a treatment approximately 10 ft long × 6 ft drop × 2 ft deep. For a different rail, measure the sloping path, count each side and specify all passes and hanging tails.
